While
Christmas may indeed stay the same in many ways, this year Christmas
has changed for the better in the hearts of Linda Eder fans around
the world! On Tuesday, October 26, 2004, Linda's CHRISTMAS STAYS
THE SAME concert special was released on DVD. The concert, which
was taped at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, on
November 23 and 24, 2001, was originally aired on Bravo TV during
the 2001 holiday season. The concert features a beautiful mix of
songs from Linda's holiday tour and some selections from her sixth-solo
album, GOLD.
From
traditional holiday classics ("Have Yourself A Merry Little
Christmas," "Silent Night," "O Holy Night")
to originals that are instant classics ("Christmas Stays The
Same," "Christmas Through A Child's Eyes," "The
Bells Of St. Paul") Linda Eder's breathtaking performance thrills
the senses and warms the soul, reminding us all about the true spirit
of the holiday season. Many of the songs performed are from Linda's
holiday album, CHRISTMAS STAYS THE SAME, which was originally released
in 2000 and was ranked as one of the top-ten overall albums that
year, alongside U2 and Don Henley, by USA Today.
The
concert special also includes Linda's rendition of "Don't Rain
On My Parade," which is a fan favorite (evidenced by a roaring
standing ovation on the DVD!) and songs from GOLD ("If I Should
Lose My Way," "Son Of A Preacher Man," "If I
Had My Way," "Gold"). The title song, "Gold,"
was heard by 3.5 billion people at the opening ceremonies of the
2002 Winter Olympics, and is the final number in the hopefully Broadway-bound
musical CAMILLE CLAUDEL.
Linda
is joined on stage by an assembly of world-class musicians: Jeremy
Roberts (Musical Director and Piano), The Dave Clemmons Choir, Stephanie
Cummins (Cello), Jim Pugh (Trombone), Billy Stein (Keyboards), Andy
Ezrin (Keyboards), Barry Danielian (Trumpet), David Mann (Woodwinds),
David Finck (Bass), Clint DeGanon (Drums), Joe Passaro (Percussion)
and Peter Calo (Guitar).
The
full set list of the concert is: "Christmas Stays The Same,"
